Comfy Pub Co

Pubs, dining & hospitality · In development · Case study

The warmth of a local. The convenience of an AI host.

Voxd is bringing Comfy Pub Co’s guest experience into a beautifully branded app, developed at pace with AI. At its heart is a planned in-app AI host: a natural way to book a table, order food and drinks, use vouchers, enjoy loyalty rewards and ask about the pubs.

Client

Comfy Pub Co

The hospitality group behind The Trooper in Wall and The Wine House in Lichfield. A shared commitment to memorable hospitality, with a distinctive personality at each venue.

01

The challenge

A great pub makes hospitality feel effortless. Guests can ask a question, get a recommendation and settle into their visit without thinking about the systems behind it. The digital experience should feel just as welcoming.

For Comfy Pub Co, that means bringing the guest journey together: choosing a venue, exploring the menu, reserving a table, ordering during a visit and having a reason to come back. It also means respecting what makes each pub special. The atmosphere of The Trooper and the character of The Wine House deserve more than the same app with a different logo.

The ambition is a connected experience that feels personal to the venue and convenient for the guest, with the freedom to tap through the app or simply ask for what they need.

02

Our approach

Voxd is using AI in the delivery as well as in the product. AI-assisted development helps us move quickly from a product idea to a tangible app, bringing the branded experience into view early so it can be explored and refined while the wider service takes shape. Design direction, engineering decisions and review remain deliberate parts of the process.

The app foundation brings the venues together without flattening their identities. Guests choose their pub and enter an experience shaped by its own imagery, typography and atmosphere. Shared foundations support a consistent journey across the group, while each venue keeps its own sense of place.

The AI host is being designed around the same principle: help should belong inside the experience. It should understand which pub the guest is visiting, what they want to do and which part of the app can make it happen.

The solution

The product vision brings bookings, menus, table ordering, payments, vouchers, gift cards and loyalty into a mobile-first app that guests can keep on their phone. A shared account is intended to bring their bookings and rewards together, with venue-specific availability, menus and service information guiding each visit.

The in-app AI agent is planned as a conversational route to the full guest functionality. “Can we book a table for dinner?” should lead into the reservation journey. “Another round for our table” should help assemble an order for the guest to review. “Can I use my voucher?” should connect the question to the relevant balance, eligibility and checkout steps. The aim is for a useful conversation to carry through to the action, with confirmation where it matters.

Alongside those actions, the agent is intended to answer questions across the pubs’ maintained information: menus, opening times, parking, facilities, events and the details that help someone plan a visit. When a question needs staff judgement or information is unavailable, it should make that handover clear.

The planned integrations connect reservations to ResDiary and commerce, payments and loyalty to Square. Those systems will remain responsible for live availability, prices and confirmed transactions. The guest gets a simple experience, while the app and agent work through the same underlying business rules.

04

The result

The project is in development. The branded app foundation is in place, including venue selection, distinct venue experiences, menus and the customer journey layouts. Live bookings, ordering, payments, loyalty and the AI host are the next stages of the wider delivery.

Already, AI-assisted development has helped turn the brief into an experience that can be seen, explored and refined. That early momentum gives Comfy Pub Co a concrete product to shape, rather than leaving the ambition on a specification page.

The intended destination is a digital companion for the whole visit: helpful before arrival, convenient at the table and worth returning to afterwards. For Comfy Pub Co, it is a way to bring service, convenience and the relationship with the guest closer together. For Voxd, it demonstrates the opportunity to use AI both to accelerate the creation of bespoke software and to make that software easier to use.
